In der Sonne spazieren

Die Sonne lud vielen Leuten heute zum Spazierengehen ein. Ich traf auf diesem jungen Paar als ich auf dem Rückweg zu meinem Auto war. Da ist ein Parkplatz am „Leinritt“ direkt am Ufer des alten Regnitz Arms das nichts kostet. Von hier aus ist man zu Fuß in 10 Minuten in der Stadt. Der „Leinritt“ war früher ein Weg, wo Pferde die Boote mit Hilfe von Leinen am Ufer entlang zogen. Heute kann man hier spazieren, Fahrrad fahren und wie schon erwähnt parken.

A WALK IN THE SUN

The sun invited a lot of people to walk in the sun. I met this young couple on the way to my car. This is at the “Leinritt”, right next to the banks of the old Regnitz River and the parking lot there is for free. It will only take about 10 minutes from here to walk into the city. In former times the “Leinritt” used to be a path where horses would pull boats that were tied to them with ropes. Nowadays you can take a walk, ride a bike or, just as I mentioned before, park your car.

In Memoriam

Als mein Vater vor 25 Jahren starb war er 60 Jahre alt. Heute wäre sein Geburtstag gewesen und er wäre 85 Jahre alt geworden. Diese Zeichnung habe damals gemalt, kurz nachdem er gestorben war (signiert mit meinem Mädchenname). Auch wenn die Geburtstagskerzen auf dem Kuchen nicht mehr für ihn brennen werden, habe ich für ihn heute eine Kerze der Erinnerung angezündet. Papa, du bleibst unvergessen in meinem Herzen.

It has been 25 years ago since my father passed away at the age of 60. Today would have been his 85th birthday. I drew this picture shortly after he died (signed with my former name). Even though birthday candles will never burn again on his birthday cake, I have a candle burning to remember him today. Daddy, you will stay unforgotten in my heart.

Sonnenbrille

Heute schien die Sonne wieder so stark, dass ich erstmals meine Sonnenbrille wieder auf den Weg nach Bamberg mitnehmen durfte und hoffentlich bleibt sie meine ständige Begleiterin!

SUNGLASSES

The sun was shining so bright again, that I had to take my sunglasses on my way to Bamberg and I hope it will be my everlasting company!

Die Geranie blüht

Heute ist Pflanzzeit! Mein Mann Volker ist der mit dem „grünen Daumen“. Eine Geranie, die in unsere Kammer überwintert hat, trägt die erste Blüte. Sie stand protzend in ihrem „Übergangs-Überstopf“, als wollte sie sagen „Erste!“ Das musste ich natürlich in meinem Aquarell festhalten. Ich musste mich beeilen, da Volker mit der kleinen Gartenschaufel in der Hand darauf wartete sie in einem größeren Topf einzupflanzen. Also, hier ist sie, unsere erste Geranie!

GERANIUM IN BLOOM

Today is planting day! My husband Volker is the one with “the green thumb”. A geranium which wintered in our closet has its first blossom. Like a little show off it stood there as if it were shouting: “…first!” I had to paint this moment in watercolor. My husband was waiting impatiently with a little shovel in his hand because he wanted to plant it into a bigger pot. Well, here it is: our first geranium!

Feierabend

Die Verkäuferin räumt gerade die Schuhe auf, es ist gleich Geschäftsschluss. Diese Schuhpassage liegt versteckt in der Lange Strasse, eine „Einkaufsmeile“ in Bamberg. Die Ausstattung dieser Mini-Passage ist sehenswert. Die Muster in Boden und Decke bewirken eine optische Täuschung.

The salesgirl is putting the shoes away, it is time to close. This little shoe mall is hidden by the Lange Strasse, one of the many streets, where you can go shopping, and it´s interior looks great. There is an optical illusion on floor and ceiling.

Es wird Grün

Nach diesem langen Winter kommt endlich der Frühling. Die Natur sehnt sich nach der Farbe Grün. Das Blau des Himmels mischt sich mit dem neuen Grün. Dieses impressionistische Aquarell habe ich im Landkreis Bamberg, in der Nähe vom Main, gemalt.

After this long winter spring is finally here. Nature is longing for the color green. The blue of the sky is blending with the new green. I painted this impressionistic watercolor in the surrounding landscape of Bamberg, near by the Main River.

Audrey Cup

Bevor ich anfange mein Tagesbild zu malen, begebe ich mich als erstes immer mit einem Becher Kaffee ins Atelier. Mein Lieblingsbecher hat ein Abbild der Schauspielerin Audrey Hepburn aus dem Film „Frühstück bei Tiffany“. Ihr Lächeln jeden Morgen erfreut mich immer wieder aufs Neue. Da fängt der Tag gleich gut an.

The first thing I do when I start my daily painting is going to my studio with a cup of coffee. My favorite cup has a picture of Audrey Hepburn on it, from the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany”. I enjoy her smile every morning, it makes my day!
