Kürbis

Heute feiert man in Amerika „Thanksgiving“, das sogenannte Erntedankfest. Dies ist ein besonderer Tag, an der man Familie und Freunde gerne zum Essen einlädt…dann gibt es Truthahn, Kartoffeln, Mais und Kürbiskuchen….hier habe ich eine kleine Zeichnung von dem Kürbis gemacht, den ich für meinen „Pumkin Pie“ benutzt habe!

Trosdorf

Im Landkreis Bamberg gibt es in Trosdorf den Gasthof  Wachter, der früher auch eine Brauerei war, und gerade zur Kerwa (Kirchweih!)-Zeit, ist hier so richtig was los. Die Kerwa geht noch bis morgen. Zu diesem Anlass stelle ich dieses Bild ein. Es zeigt den Gasthof und die Senior-Chefin, die sich in der Märzsonne eine kleine Auszeit gönnt.

Trosdorf

In Bamberg county there is a guesthouse in Trosdorf called Wachter. It used to be a brewery and at this time of the year they celebrate a fair called "Kirchweih" . It will end tomorrow. For this occasion I am posting a picture. It shows the guesthouse and the owner´s mother taking a short timeout in the sun.

Katzendame

Happy Birthday, liebe Babs! Meine Freundin, die liebevolle Katzenmutti Babs, hat heute Geburtstag und aus diesem Anlass habe ich ihr ein Bild von ihrer alten Katzendame Lea gemalt, die sie für viele Jahre als treue Freundin begleitet hat und in diesem Sommer einer ihrer „ 7 Leben“ verloren hat.

Happy Birthday, dear Babs! My friend Babs, a very loving “cat mom” is today´s birthday “kid” and for this special occasion I painted her a picture of her old lady cat called Lea, which shared very many years of friendship with her and lost one of her “7 lives” this summer.

Rote Schuhe

Happy Birthday, Catherina! Meine Freundin Catherina hat heute einen „runden“ Geburtstag (den ich nicht verraten werde) und ich freue mich ganz besonders diesen Tag mit ihr in ihrer Heimatstadt feiern zu dürfen, da wir uns seit einigen Jahren leider nicht mehr gesehen hatten….und aus diesem Anlass habe ich ihr ein Bild mit roten Schuhen gemalt, als kleine liebenswürde Anspielung auf ihr Steckenpferd: Schuhe….sie hat mit Abstand die schönste Schuhsammlung die ich kenne.

Red Shoes

Happy Birthday, Catherina! My friend Catherine is today´s birthday “kid” …and I won´t tell how old she turned…but I am very glad to celebrate this special event with her at her home town, after we haven´t seen each other for years ….and for this special occasion I painted a picture with red shoes as a little hint for her hobby: shoes ….and she has one of the most beautiful shoe collections I´ve ever seen.

Touristen am Kranen

Ein typischer Anblick in Bamberg: Touristen am Kranen. Diese kleine Gruppe steht vor dem ehemaligen Schlachthaus, das 1740 zur Hälfte über die Regnitz gebaut wurde, um seine Abfälle direkt ins Wasser zu entsorgen. Heute ist dieses Gebäude ein Teil der heutigen Universität. Mehr hierzu kann man an den Informationstafeln lesen, die an sehenswerten Plätzen in Bamberg aufgestellt worden sind.

Tourists at the Crane

A typical sight in Bamberg: tourists at “the Crane”. This small group is standing right in front of the former slaughter-house, which was built half way over the river Regnitz in 1740 in order to unload the waste directly into the water. Today this building is part of the university. You can read more about these things at the information boards, which have been set up at many places worth seeing in Bamberg.

Freak City

Hurra, die Brose Baskets Bamberg sind Deutscher Basketballmeister und die ganze Stadt hat mitgefeiert! Am Donnerstagabend wurde das Finalspiel auf einem großen Bildschirm am Maximiliansplatz übertragen. Ich bin am Freitagmorgen dorthin gefahren, um mir „ein Bild“ vom Morgen danach zu machen! Irre…unzählige Kleinplakate, teilweise zerrissen, mit der Schlagzeile „Freak-City Pokalsieger 2010“ bzw. „Meister 2010“, lagen verstreut über den ganzen Platz, zusammen mit Glasflaschenscherben, Zigarettenkippen und leeren Sektflaschen, etc. Da traf der Aufdruck „Freak-City, Mission Completed“ wahrlich zu! Und dann regnete es auch noch in Strömen und verwandelte den gesamten Platz in eine klatschnasse und rot-weiße Szene. In meinem Bild habe ich ein Detail festgehalten, wobei sich das Rathaus zusammen mit der Sektflasche auf dem verregneten Steinboden wiederspiegelt. Das ist Freak-City…der Morgen danach!

Hurray, the Basketballteam Brose Baskets Bamberg is German Champion and the whole City celebrated! On Thursday evening they broadcasted the final game on a huge screen at the Maximiliansplatz. So I drove to that place on Friday morning to “make a picture” of the morning after! Crazy… innumerable small posters with the headline: ”Freak-City Cup Winner 2010” or “Champion 2010” printed on them, were scattered all over the place, together with pieces of glass bottles, cigarette-ends and empty champagne bottles. It´s true to call this place “Freak-City, Mission Completed”! And all of a sudden it started raining cats and dogs and it turned this place into a soaking wet and red and white scene. In my picture there is the detail were you can see the City Hall and the champagne bottle reflecting on the wet pavement. This is Freak-City…the morning after!

Im Botanischen Garten I

In Bamberg gibt es einen Botanischen Garten und dieser liegt in einer großen Grünanlage, den man den „Hain“ nennt. Hier blühen zur Zeit Schwertlilien, in wunderschönen Farben, welcher mich zu diesem Aquarell inspirierten.

Bamberg has a botanical Garden which you can find in a great park they call the “Grove”. Right now the iris is in bloom, in many beautiful colors, which inspired me to this watercolor.
